Best Travel Booking Websites: 2013

In January 2013, in the NY Times, they had an article about "Going Retro" to save on travel.  It had some interesting tips in there but the best tip of all came from the comments section of the article.

The first tip in the article was about using the phone to get the best rates on flights and hotels.  This is something that deserves a few comments about the "VALUE OF TIME".

Really...isn't there a value on your time?

And this is exactly what this comment from a reader addressed how travel savings is really about saving time and saving money.  (See The Comment Below)

Because I value my time, I found the "retro tips" fell short.  Instead of doing all of the time consuming tips in the article I find it much easier and much faster to allow 2 "Travel Search Engines" to do all of the work for me.

A "Travel Search Engine" is a travel booking site that searches 100s of different travel sites and posts the lowest rates for you.  It's fast and easy.  And they pull up great rates.  The 2 sites to use are:

  1. BestTravelCoupon.com - This travel site has the largest inventory of hotel deals and cheap flights of any website.
  2. Kayak.com - I use this site 2nd and use it primarily to confirm the low rates I find on BestTravelCoupon.com.

Using these 2 sites is all you need to do to "Save Time And Money" when searching for travel deals. Let me tell you...it sure beats spending hours on the phone, as well as, bouncing from one travel site to another.

Here is the comment from the NY TIMES ARTICLE:

"Travel Savings" consists of 2 things:

1. Time saved searching for your travel deals.
2. Of course...money saved.

The time aspect is just as important to me.

Just a few months ago, Google announced the average travel shopper still visits over 20 different travel sites(over 9.5 sessions at the computer) before booking. That, for me, is a LOT OF WASTED time.

On Travel-Search-Engines.com they have a travel guide with a few simple tips on how to avoid this wasted time and quickly find the best deals.

Here is the page: http://travel-search-engines.com/hotel-deals/

Just click on the image to get the travel guide.

I can also sum it up to you. They suggest using just 2 sites to shop for travel. These sites search all of the travel sites (and one Kayak uses some of the same search tools as sites such as Expedia). So you can avoid searching over and over again for the same results.

The travel sites are:

1. http://BestTravelCoupon.com
2. http://Kayak.com

Both of them search other sites and post the lowest rates. Just use 2 and go with the lower rate.

That's all you need. Save time and money.

If you want to spend more time you can take some of the hotel rates you get online and call the hotel directly. I have done that before with mixed results. I usually got them to match but wasted more time calling so it wasn't worth it any more for me.

Travel Search Engine 2012: Kayak.com and BestTravelCoupon.com

If you want to quickly find a hotel deal I have the best way to do it.  Don't waste your time search several different travel sites.  Just do this.  Use the 2 best travel search engines in the world to book hotels.

According a Travel Search Engines Review, at www.Travel-Search-Engines.com, the best sites for hotel bookings are:
  1. www.BestTravelCoupon.com - A 2012 travel search engine with proven results to beat sites like Expedia, Priceline, and Orbitz on hotel rates.  Also great with flights.
  2. www.Kayak.com - Another travel search engine that uses different search tools but provides excellent pricing.  Just had a public stock offering in 2012.
Travel Search Engines
Both of these sites are "Travel Search Engines" which means they only search other travel sites and then post the best rates for you.  The bonus here is it saves a lot of time for you and you can quickly shop for the best deals.

Instead of bouncing between sites to shop for deals and save some cash...just use these sites.

Which Site Should I Use?

You should use both Kayak and BestTravelCoupon to check for the best price.  The reason is they use different search tools.  This is especially true with the flight search.  Kayak uses the Google powered ITA Software while BestTravelCoupon uses a different search functions.

In tests a slight edge went to BestTravelCoupon on pricing but for some flights within the USA, Kayak had better pricing.

For Hotels...BestTravelCoupon was the best site.  They have the largest inventory of hotels and they consistently posted the lowest rates.

Here is an example of a rate comparison for hotels in Chicago: BestTravelCoupon vs Travelocity:
  1. Grand Hyatt Seattle: Travelocity: $1,722  BestTravelCoupon: $1204
  2. The Westin Seattle: Travelocity: $1281   BestTravelCoupon: $1153
  3. Pan Pacific Seattle: Travelocity: $1506  BestTravelCoupon: $1146
  4. Crowne Plaza Seattle Downtown: Travelocity: $1,040  BestTravelCoupon: $730
  5. Best Western Plus Executive Inn: Travelocity: $814   BestTravelCoupon: $512

We also found some article on the net about this site.  Here is a good one on Las Vegas Hotels.  For years, I used Vegas.com but that's a 1990s thing to do.  There are better options today with the development of these Travel Search Engines".

Here is the article on "Best Hotel Deals In Las Vegas".  It really comes down to "Why use only 1 travel site to find a deal when these new sites can search over 100 different sites to find better deals?"

Travel Deals: Resources

This is all you need right here to find your travel deals.  Search these 2 sites and find your deal.  It will save time and money for you.

UPDATE AUGUST 11, 2012
Several new price comparison tests with BestTravelCoupon.com and sites like Priceline.com, Kayak.com, Orbitz.com, and Travelocity.com.  You can really see how you save on hotel rates.

Just visit the site and click "PROVEN RESULTS" for a list of price comparison tests.  Some of the other sites were over 100% higher for the same hotel and same dates.  This really shows the value of using the "Travel Search Engine" approach to booking travel and hotels.

Again...it comes down to "why use 1 travel site when these sites will search over 100 sites for you"?
